RKS GEARS UP FOR LODONI DAY
The
people of Lodoni, old scholars and students of Ratu Kadavulevu
School are gearing up for a special day of festivity and fundraising.
In
great Lodoni tradition, the organising committee have selected
prominent old scholars and levied them $500 each with the
hope that their colleagues in higher salaries will help in
the completion of the school chapel.
Old
Scholar and Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase is part of the
group that was requested to achieve the target $250,000.
Honourable
Qarase presented his cheque of $500.00 to the Chairman of
the Organising Committee Ratu Tui Cavuilati and says that
he will miss the get together because he has committed himself
to watch Fiji, Scotland World Cup qualifying game in Sydney.
Parents
and Old Scholars from around Fiji will gather at the Civic
Center to contribute to this worthy course.
The
Lodoni Day with the motto "My Lodoni Mai will be held
at the Civic Centre Car park on November 1st, 2003 , beginning
at 9am with Chief Quests neighbouring Queen Victoria School
Old Scholars followed by the famous QVS meke 'Waqavuka' opening
the fundraising drive.
This
would be followed with the donation from students and old
scholars of RKS.
Adi Cakobau School Old Scholars will be the chief Guests for
the closing ceremony.
Students
from both schools will also present their mekes 'Valu Cibi
Ai Valu' and 'Raude' respectively.
During
lunch, the popular Voqa ni Delaidokidoki group , also old
scholars of RKS and QVS will entertain the crowd with music
from their latest release.
Old
Scholars have also organised selected business houses to exhibit
their operations with the objective to educate and inform
the students on respective career paths.
The
organisers are expecting a large crowd and a grand day of
festivity.
