$500,000 KICK STARTS RKS TRANSFORMATION

The upgrading of a dining hall, a hostel and two new buildings this year marks the start of the upgrading of Ratu Kadavulevu School into a Centre of Excellence for Technology Training.

Following Cabinet's decision in Levuka in August this year, this government owned boys boarding institution in Lodoni, Tailevu, will undergo a transformation process beginning with the repairs and refurbishment of these facilities costing $500,000.

This consists of the dining hall, the Ma'afu Hostel and Buildings 69A and 69B with plans also to upgrade computer and electronic studies facilities and the progression of all vocational courses to Stage V that would see students graduating with tool kits.

The concept of the Centre of Excellence is based on the quality rather than the quantum issue of education provisions.

Minister for Education, Ro Teimumu Kepa had mentioned that in all things we do and provide for or at the school, quality must be the catch-word particularly in the students performance.

The transformation of one of Fiji's oldest learning institutions would also embody the enhancement of the school culture and ethos for improved student performance and discipline.

It is also envisioned that by 2006 the school roll would rest at 600 pupils who would have an upgraded school farm and a completed chapel.

The establishment of a Sports Academy is also parceled in the total transformation package of Lodoni.
